Good Path Academy

Impacting Lives. Supporting Students. Building Confidence—One Skill at a Time.

Meet the Founder

Robin J. Phillips, Ed.S.

Founder & Educator

Good Path Academy was founded by Robin Phillips to provide students with additional support, challenge, and educational opportunities beyond the traditional classroom.

Robin is a teacher, educational leader, and championship coach with 24 years of experience in education. He and his wife, Staci, an elementary school counselor, live in Florence, Alabama. Education has long been an important part of Robin’s life. Both of his parents were teachers, and he comes from a long line of educators.

Outside of school, Robin and Staci enjoy serving and attending church together and staying connected with their three grown children and their families. Their two sons and son-in-law are currently in various stages of medical school.

Known to many of his students as Coach Phillips, Robin has coached basketball, track and field, and cross country. He considers one of his greatest strengths to be helping students and athletes achieve levels they may not have thought possible. Over the years, he has coached numerous individual and relay champions in track and field as well as two state championship cross country teams.

Robin has taught mathematics from sixth grade through dual-enrollment Calculus I. Helping students discover what they are capable of has remained central to his work.

“I love helping students realize their potential.”

Many of his former students and athletes have gone on to succeed in academics, athletics, business, medicine, ministry, and other fields. Robin especially enjoys seeing former students pursue careers in education.

“One of my favorite things to see is when former students become teachers.”

Robin is quick to emphasize that strong education is always a team effort.

“Of course, it’s a team effort, and I’ve been blessed to work with great teachers and administrators in three different schools. Many teachers and schools are doing the best they can with the resources they have. Through Good Path Academy, we can provide specialized instruction and supplemental resources to support and challenge students to grow and reach new heights academically and personally. We also want to be a trusted resource for parents as they support and guide their children.”

Robin has worked with students who come to him with very different levels of confidence in math. When a student begins the year saying, “I'm just not good at math,” Robin takes it as a personal challenge to help that student like math a little better. He has seen that a negative attitude toward math is often connected to a difficult past experience with math or foundational skills that need to be strengthened.

“My goal is to help them like math a little better than they did when they came to my class.”

Robin believes education is about more than performance in a single subject.

“I think it is essential that we see the whole person and not become hyper-focused on their performance in one subject, such as math.”

That belief is central to the vision for Good Path Academy. Robin’s vision is for Good Path Academy to become a world-class educational resource serving students around the world through high-quality instruction, meaningful support, challenge, leadership development, and opportunities for spiritual growth.

His favorite Scripture reflects the faith and optimism behind that vision:

“With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
— Matthew 19:26

Robin wants Good Path Academy to be a place where students are supported, challenged, and encouraged as they develop academically and personally.

“Ultimately, the big goal is to help students grow in wisdom so they can choose a Good Path forward.”

“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair —
every good path.”
